Hawley's Japanese Sword smiths states Tamba No Kami Yoshimichi (4th Generation) from Yamashiro province has his working dates listed as 1673-1688 AD and is listed with Kiku (meaning: chrysanthemum) as it is on the tang. This smith is also listed in Toko Taikan (TK) and Fujishiro's Shinto (S) page 98 reference volumes. Fujishiro states the working date as 1673 AD (it is common for dates to vary by different reference volumes) and his style continues in that of 1st Generation (worked Yamato No Kami), Also Fujishiro thought there is said to be a 3rd Generation "I have never seen any of his Katana's and that he has only seen 2nd or 4th Generation". 1st Generation developed Sudare-ba, 4th Generation is known for this style as well. According to a story a long time ago- the 1st Generation has a thin mei and 2nd Generation said had a thick mei (they are referring to the width of the tagane). He is Chu Jo Saku (rated upper middle class). He was commonly called Mishima Shirobei. He lived in Ban Shu and also Sukeuemon. Also it should be noted that 4th Generation blades tend to have more of an artistically done hamon.
