Yoshu Hojo Ju Hiromasa Gendaito... A traditional Bizen style blade

Hiromasa, b-1908-d.1953, was a student of Takahashi Yoshimune, who was a student of Yokoyama Sukesada, Itsumi Yoshitaka and Enju Kunitoshi.  He was born Torio Kamematsu in 1908. At the age of 35, He was designated an Army sword smith and instructor having four students working under him.

He won many awards including a gold medal at the Showa-to exhibition, the Rikugun Daijin sho (army minister award) and several prime minister awards (These were reserved for only the most exulted of sword makers, normally those with political connections).

THIS ITOMAKI WAS PRODUCED IN THE MID- EDO PERIOD (APPROXIMATELY 1700 AD). ITS BEAUTIFULLY MADE KODOGU (FITTINGS) COMPLIMENT THE WONDERFUL "MAKIE" SAYA, AND PAIN PAINSTAKINGLY MADE TSUBA.
