- Examples of Takahashi Nagahide 1st & 2nd
generation signatures -
there is no 3rd generation oshigata
in our reference library that can be located.
- 1st Generation -
We cannot be certain if this blade is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation as they are very close
Tachi mei signatures are cut somewhat different than Katana-mei.
Shodai Takahashi Nagahide was a swordsmith who lived in Hoon Shoji, Usukine joka Honmachi. He is the third son of Kitanokawa Ichiuemon but was adopted by Takahashi Enhachi. First he was called Togiya Taheita later Gonsuke Nagahide. Nagahide signed as Enryu Nagahide, Takahashi and Enryu are one in the same.
As per Dr. Honma's book, We found that Shodai Nagahide was the student of Enju Kunihide. Our feeling is that this blade is 1st generation due to the work appearing to be with Enju style and characteristics. Takahashi Nagahide died in 1845 AD.
Please see scans above and below of other works we found by this smith.
